Island Home Renovation
Whole-Home Renovation | Dataw Island, Beaufort, SC
Allen Patterson Builders, a NAHB Certified Master Builder based in Beaufort, South Carolina, and a member of the Southern Living Custom Builder Network since 2012, renovated a one-level home on Dataw Island, South Carolina. The homeowners wanted a home that was better suited to hosting family and friends, with more space and light throughout.
The project was a complete renovation of the existing 3,450-square-foot home down to the studs, completed over 10 months. The layout was reformed throughout, soaring ceilings were exposed and rebuilt — including in the entry foyer, which had previously felt closed in beneath blue-painted walls and a lower ceiling line — walls were removed, and windows were replaced, with the structure redesigned around the stunning water views to the rear of the home.
